In a historic and bold move to protect Northeast India, the Indian Army has carried out a massive drone strike on the hideouts of China-backed militant organizations—ULFA-I (United Liberation Front of Assam-Independent) and NSCN-K (National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang) located within the Myanmar border. The operation began in the early hours of Sunday and using state-of-the-art drone technology, several important camps and command centers of these organizations were completely destroyed.

The operation was centered in Myanmar’s Sagaing region, which has long been a safe haven for separatist organizations in the Northeast. The army took this action in coordination with the Myanmar administration, thereby dealing a severe blow to cross-border terrorism. According to initial reports, many senior militant leaders, including ULFA-I’s top military commander Nayan Medhi alias Nayan Assam, have been killed in this attack. At the same time, many bases of NSCN-K have also suffered heavy damage and the organization has been broken.
More than 100 drones were used in this operation, with the help of which accurate targets were hit. The army first kept a secret surveillance of these camps and as soon as the militant activity was confirmed, the attack was launched immediately. During the attack, many weapon depots, communication centers and training camps were also destroyed. After this action, security and vigilance has been further increased on the Myanmar border, so that the remaining militants cannot infiltrate into India.
Organizations like ULFA-I and NSCN-K have been involved in violence, kidnapping and separatist activities in Northeast India for decades. They have also been accused of taking arms, training and financial help from China. This action of the Indian Army has not only dealt a big blow to these organizations, but has also sent a clear message to China that India can go to any extent to protect its borders and citizens.
This operation is a proof of the technical capability, strategic thinking and strong will of the Indian Army. This will further strengthen the path of peace and development in the Northeast. The official statement from the government and the army is yet to come, but security experts believe that this action is India’s most decisive and bold initiative so far against cross-border terrorism.
